Paint & Pigments
There are two segments of the Paints and Pigments industry in which explosions come into play. Manufacturers of powder paints use jet mills to shoot material at high velocity, break it up and then send it to filter receivers, storage hoppers, dust collectors and cyclone separators. Users of powder paint apply it to metal products in paint booths, a process which can produce flash fires. Aggressive explosions may also occur or propagate to dust collectors and cyclone separators which are typically centrally located inside the plant, making explosion venting impractical.
