Chemicals
The Chemicals industry converts a wide variety of raw materials including oil, natural gas, air, water, metals and minerals into more than 70,000 different products. It is characterized by the processing of materials with a range of explosibility levels. These materials are easy to ignite and often have a low ignition tolerance. When combustible vapors combine with dust, it creates a unique challenge in which the mixture can be ignited by electrostatic discharge, mechanical overheating, or chemical reaction.
