THE WOOD & PAPER INDUSTRY

The Wood & Paper industry involves a wide range of explosion-prone production applications. These range from MDF (medium density fiberboard), OSB (oriented strand board), particle board, plywood and siding to furniture, wood pellets, cabinet manufacturing, paper and tissue millers and cardboard/packaging. Large amounts of dust accumulates when taking a wet product and drying/forming it or a dry product and cutting or sanding it. The residual dust generated often causes secondary explosions on a large plant-wide scale.

Selecting the Right Explosion Protection System

There are three basic types of explosion protection systems: venting, isolation and suppression. Follow the flow chart to get a basic idea of which solution is right for your application.
